This is a Clavichord built from a Zuckerman kit. The kit was purchased in 1990, the instrument was completed in 1995. It was given to me that year but I have never really used it nor have I had a place to put it so it has been in a closet for a long time. The man who completed the kit was a skilled woodworker and it shows in how well he finished it. You would have to see it and play it to understand the quality of the finish work. Most of the wood appears to be mahogany, with some oak and spruce all with a lovely medium cherry stain.

The instrument has 20 courses of double strings and spans a range of 4 octaves. Just to the left of the keyboard is a small container that has a tuning wrench in it. As you can see, the top box (the keyboard section) can be separated from the legs. If you wanted to, you could play it sitting in your lap. And, it all folds up to keep dust out of the strings and hammers. When folded up, it becomes a lovely addition to any room. When unfolded, the lid becomes a music stand.

I am asking $900 for this beauty, but that includes a set up from Harlan Glotzer. You will have to contact him and let him know what you want done to it so that it will play perfectly for you in the room that you will play it in. I have a few more pictures if you want them.
